About Us: Our Staff

Kristen Lindstrom, Executive/Program Director, joined the Council in June 2005 as its second Executive Director. Kristen served on the Council's Board of Directors for nearly two years, and as Board Secretary for one year. Prior to the joining the Council she was the HIV/STD Health Educator for the Chatham County Health Department. As the Executive Director, Kristen oversees program direction, grant writing, collaboration with community agencies, and agency management.

Becky Kooistra, Outreach Coordinator, joined the Council in September 07. Becky makes connections with the community on many levels, including local businesses, Tiendas and Outreach with the Condom-mobile. Before coming to the Council, Becky worked for Planned Parenthood, and did some HIV testing. Becky brings lots of enthusiasm and energy to the Council.

Sterlin Holt, Coordinator for African-American Outreach, enjoys working with the ministers in Chatham County. He works closely with the churches to help educate the African-American community through their faith. He and Selena work to educate churches on how to incorporate HIV prevention into scripture. Sterlin also works with the barbershops to educate and distribute information and condoms. Sterlin also works with the Chatham County Health Department and the Focus on Fathers program.

Maria Maldonado, PUEDES Coordinator, facilitates the PUEDES program for Latina women. She contacts interested women, coordinates training logistics, leads the training, and provides follow-up after the prevention program. Maria also works as an interpreter at the Chatham Hospital and serves as a doula.

Jaime Montano, Hombres Coordinator, facilitates a lay health advisory program for Latino man that takes advantage of the strong social networks existing in local soccer leagues. Jaime started working with the Council in May 2004, but has a long history working with non-profit service and advocacy agencies in Chatham County.

Harriett Siler, Coordinator for African American Outreach, is passionate about her work with the Council. Harriett works with a prevention program, SISTA, a five-week session with African American women within their homes where she teaches empowerment, self-love, healthy relationships, and negotiating one's assertiveness in using condoms. She also visits churches, along with barber and beauty shops, where she educates people and distributes information and condoms. Harriett also works with the Chatham County Health Department as the APP Coordinator.

Carla Finley, Office Manager, is an accountant by training with lots of experience with construction accounting. Having worked with the Council since March 2006, Carla helps handle the Council's growing administrative and evaluative needs.
