Chatham Social Health Council | STD, HIV, and AIDS Prevention Education

Welcome to ChathamCouncil.org

Unlike many diseases, HIV/AIDS and STDs are preventable through education and knowing your HIV and STD status.
Through education, advocacy, testing and support, the Chatham Social Health Council strives to prevent HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases and unintended pregnancy throughout central North Carolina.

Chatham Social Health Council is the only agency devoted solely to HIV and STD prevention, education and testing services in Chatham County.  Because of the outstanding prevention and testing services offered by Chatham Social Health Council, HIV/STD non-traditional testing services (NTS) were recently expanded to include Alamance, Randolph and Orange Counties in June 2010. The Council received a grant in October 2010 to provide HIV and STD testing services in Substance Abuse Centers in Randolph, Anson, Hoke, Harnett, Lee, Montgomery, Moore and Richmond Counties. The Council reaches over 12,000 people annually through prevention education classes, NTS testing services, research with Wake Forest University and community outreach serving 11 counties.
